You may not need us if you’re painting a bedroom, replacing cabinet hardware, installing shelves or giving your backyard a makeover. If you have the skills, tools, time and patience, go for it. Just know the permit requirements and when a licensed professional is necessary.
It may be time to call us if you’re coordinating multiple trades, making structural changes, managing permits and inspections, or working on a tight schedule. If one delay can disrupt several other parts of the project, professional coordination makes a real difference.
DIY? We’re all for it. But be honest with yourself. Do you have the time to coordinate subcontractors, compare estimates, research codes, schedule inspections, order materials, handle change orders and keep things moving when someone doesn’t show up? And do all that while managing your job, your family and everything else life has going on?
I’ll wait.
Where local requirements allow it, you can act as your own general contractor, and you might save money. You might also discover that your evenings, weekends and peace of mind are worth more than you expected. Your time has value, too.
Maybe you have drawings but don’t know how to turn them into a construction project. Maybe you just have an idea, a budget and a Pinterest board full of possibilities. That’s fine.
If your project isn’t ready for a GC yet, we’ll tell you what you need first. If you’re better off handling it yourself or hiring a specialized contractor, we’ll tell you that, too. And if you need someone to plan, coordinate and build it, we’d love to talk.
